The job’s main focus is to provide a support service which requires greater emphasis on timeliness and⁄or cost-effectiveness (e.g., sales administration, computer operations, purchasing, shipping, cash management) OR, the job is in charge of tasks and duties which directly impact productivity (e.g., data entry operator, maintenance worker). This may include management jobs with responsibility for service or staff functions (e.g., customer service or accounting).
Responsibilities:
Co-Ordination and Planning
Manage the CFS LTL schedule and publish in a timely fashion.
Responsible for scheduling LTL freight through one-way lanes.
Manage the scheduling of LTL loads to third party⁄contract carriers, LCL Fleet.
Schedule loads by lane, by trip with cost effectiveness as a constant consideration.
Be diligent around 100% pick up rate daily. Effectively follow up when required.
Regular timely review of historical ‘Load-At’ to keep Service level focus.
Maintain⁄Monitor⁄Support
Collect the performance data for DC's, Vendors & Carriers (Service level⁄ no shows).
Monitor transportation quality P&L statements for identified initiatives.
Assist in the analysis and development of inbound opportunities.
Communication
Communicate the performance data for DC's vendors, Shippers and Receivers.
Communicate issues⁄concerns to appropriate individuals when necessary.
Key resource for internal⁄external contacts.
Communicate in a professional manner at all times with internal⁄external customers.
Requirements:
A University⁄College degree⁄diploma or related discipline or equivalent work experience preferred.
Must have at least 3+ years experience within a retail⁄distribution environment, preferable within a transportation⁄logistics area.
Process a solid understanding of distribution operations⁄systems and transportation.
Strong interpersonal, communications, organization, prioritization and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Must be detailed oriented with a high attention to accuracy.
Must be able to work independently.
Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications i.e. Word, Excel, Access. Familiarity with BICEPS, WMS, Transportation Manager and Calprofs is an asset.
