Position:Graphic and Web Designer

Report to:Manager, Marketing and Communications
Position Profile:
Under the direction of the Manager of Marketing and Communications and based out of our Mississauga head office location, the activities and responsibilities of this position include:
Designing, developing and ensuring the application of a distinctive and consistent visual identity for the company and its related organizations including the standardization of shapes, colors, fonts and imagery
Creating a graphic ⁄ branding standards document for company-wide distribution
Creating distinctive event, trip and⁄or campaign related concepts and themes
Ensuring the consistent application of the established corporate or event look and feel and version⁄document coding across all projects
Generating creative concepts for all print and electronic communications
Developing and producing detailed design and print ready production files for all print and electronic projects including letters, proposals, brochures, handouts, flyers, posters, presentations, ads, newsletters, signs, web pages and more
Liaising with supplier art departments as required to ensure efficient and error free production
Participating in internal and external proofing processes as required
Updating the corporate website as required
Assisting with other departmental activities as required
Candidate Profile:
This position requires an experienced creative professional with an ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume entrepreneurial environment. Required skills, experience and characteristics include:
A University degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary institution in graphic design and⁄or multi-media design is mandatory
5-7 years minimum experience in a high volume, professional graphic design environment including in the production of both print and web-related communications materials
Knowledge of pre-press file preparation
A strong background in creative strategy and in designing print communications
A superior design sensibility and a comprehensive understanding of typography, layout and colour theory
Strong organizational skills and an unwavering ability to deliver high quality design solutions while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines
An ability to respond quickly to internal demands and a changing workload
A strong sense of urgency, ownership and personal responsibility
A high degree of professionalism, strong interpersonal skills and an ability to take direction
A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work well both independently and as member of a team
An ability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Expertise in graphic and web design software programs including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat Professional) and Dreamweaver, as well as a working knowledge of HTML, XML, ASP and⁄or PHP, Javascript and Flash all on a PC platform
Previous energy sector or experience in a direct sales environment – considered an asset
